The Bobby Scheme

The “Bobby Scheme” in Cambridgeshire is a community-based initiative aimed at providing home security advice and practical support to vulnerable and elderly residents to enhance their safety and prevent burglary. Trained volunteers, often retired police officers, visit homes to offer free security assessments and guidance on improving the security of doors, windows, and other potential entry points. They may also provide and install simple security measures such as door chains, window locks, and outdoor lighting. The Bobby Scheme not only strengthens home security but also fosters a sense of reassurance and community connection among residents, contributing to overall neighborhood safety.
